Know more about Fasting Blood Sugar test

The fasting blood sugar test helps to detect if you are suffering from Type 1, Type 2 and prediabetes.

Symptoms of fasting blood sugar are:

Feeling thirsty, dry mouth, extreme tiredness, blurred vision, drowsiness, frequent urge to urinate, high blood pressure, overweight, high triglycerides (a type of fat present in your blood) followed by nausea/fatigue.

High levels of glucose most frequently indicate diabetes, but many other diseases and conditions can also cause elevated blood glucose.

Glucose is the main energy source for the cells of the body. A steady supply of energy indicates a maintained glucose level in the body.

While glucose producing energy, during that process, a hormone is produced by the pancreas called insulin. Thus the main role of insulin is to transfer glucose in the form of energy to cells of the body.

Besides, carbohydrates generally break down into the formation of glucose and simple sugars. Also, if there is an increase in the level of insulin it can lead to a fall in blood sugar levels. It further causes hypoglycemia in the body.

When there is a decrease in the level of insulin it can alternatively lead to high blood sugar levels in the body. It results in hyperglycemia.
