ACE-Angiotensin Converting Enzyme helps the doctor to monitor a disease called sarcoidosis. This condition causes inflammatory cells called granulomas to form inside the body, leading to organ inflammation. Organs that may be affected by sarcoidosis include: lungs, skin, eyes, lymph nodes, liver, heart and spleen.

The level of ACE in blood is measured through this test and conditions like sarcoidosis is diagnosed. Sometimes doctors also used the same test to assess the effectiveness of treatments for other medical conditions as well. One condition that can be examined with an ACE level test is Gaucher’s disease. This is an inherited condition that causes fatty substances called lipids to build up in cells and internal organs of the body.

Increased levels of the ACE enzyme can suggest, you are suffering Gaucher’s disease and can also be used to track response to medical therapy. 

Conditions causing lower-than-normal ACE levels include: 

chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), hypothyroidism, cystic fibrosis, emphysema. 

Conditions causing higher-than-normal levels of ACE include: 

cirrhosis, Gaucher’s disease, psoriasis, amyloidosis, diabetes, HIV, histoplasmosis

Test Method 1 : The ACE level test involves taking a small sample of blood from a vein of your arm. The blood is collected in a tube or vial attached to the end of the needle. And the collected blood sample of yours will be sent to a test lab.
