The Iron, TIBC & Saturation percentage test helps to identify if you are suffering from iron deficiency and related diseases such as anemia. The test also helsp to measure the content of iron the your blood if it's overloaded and your body is not able to take it.

The common symptoms associated with Iron, TIBC & Saturation would include:

Transferrin is the type of protein that is present in the blood responsible for binding to iron to the blood. And transports it to the rest of the body through blood vessels. 

Besides, iron the essential mineral in the body. The main role of iron is to produce red blood cells (healthy). As a result of which red blood cells are responsible for binding oxygen in the lungs to later release that oxygen to other parts of the body through blood circulation.

You will be advised to fast for 12 hours before the test. Also you might be advised to take the test in the morning hours.

Depending on your test result, you will be prescribed to take iron supplements, other medications, and iron-rich diet.

The iron-rich diet would include foods such as:

Shellfish, other organ meats for non-vegetarians.

While vegetarians can consume more of green leafy vegetables, legumes, pumpkin seeds, quinoa, nuts. 

In fruits include more of pomegranate, apple, banana, guava. These fruits are rich in iron.

If your test results show a high content of iron in your body, you will be recommended to decrease the intake of above-mentioned food items.


Test Method: A blood sample will be collected from a vein of your arm.

Test Report: Turn around time is 24 hours.
